Deborah Filanowski won the first Plan B Press chapbook contest ". . . and Guppies eat their young," a collection of poetry about motherhood, womanhood and family. This work features as its first "bookend" "Woman's work: A poem for two voices," a look at two women questioning their choices in life: a stay at home mom, and a career woman. Poems include; "Mother-love," "Metamorphosis," and "Woman's Work: The First 20,000 years."
Deborah Filanowski - 2001 was a milestone year for Deborah Filanowski. She turned 50; both her children are now in college, one at The College of William and Mary, the other at Ohio State University and the big event was the publishing of a chap book of poetry(...and guppies eat their young) in conjunction with a contest conducted by LancasterOutLoud and the poetry festival of that name which took place in September. She was also priviledged to meet and talk with Billy Collins the present poet laureate on two occasions in April and again in November. She is active with Stray Dog Poets in Schuylkill County where she resides and also read with the BerksBards as well as other readings throughout Northcentral PA.
